Interview on PensEyeView

I love it when writers ask uncommon questions, and of course love it when they call me 'highly entertaining'. And, let the record show that I gave a direct quote about 'Call Me Maybe'... ;)

Check it out!

NY Social Status Feature

I haven't talked a lot about body image in the past- of course, as a singer and songwriter I want my music to be the focus!  So many artists are a case of style over substance, and I never want to be put in that category.  But, I appreciate the power of visual media to add another dimension to my story- and I know photo and video shoots are another tool to get the word out so I've embraced that as an important part of my artistic statement.

It's extremely important to me to spread a positive message about feminity and confidence!  I enjoyed doing this interview because it gave me a chance to speak more directly about it- and thank you to all the writers and fans who have been SO truly supportive of my efforts to promote a more natural and unconventional body type- at least by today's standards of beauty.  There's still a lot of you out there that feel that sexiness comes in many shapes and sizes, and I'm so grateful to you for cheering me on.

Many thanks to NY Social Status for this great feature- you can check out the interview below.

Sarah Tracey Shows Off Talent...and Curves

Sarah Tracey's new video for her song, Camera, features the gorgeous, curvy blonde gallivanting about a hotel room in less than her mother's ideal Saturday afternoon outfit with a sexy, hand-picked gentleman in tow. All fun and games, until she loses her camera. Despite her scanty wardrobe in the debut video, Tracey expresses that her... READ MORE

Sex... Shaken, Not Stirred- on The Showt

The gentlemen of 'The Showt' understand that while engineering a liason, music can sometimes be the best foreplay. Yes, this feature was the very first time I have ever been called 'musical lubrication'.  Of which I am proud ;) and wanted to share.

Sexting in the City... and the Suburbs... and the Country....

I was recently invited to share my thoughts on digital technology and modern dating in essay for The Huffington Post- in which I muse about the practice of sending risque photos via text message (would Romeo and Juliet have done it? How about  Scarlett and Rhett?)

Check out my piece and weigh in on the comments here- what does everybody think about sexting?

Remembering Teena Marie

I had to share a beautiful profile of the late Teena Marie, the original 'White Chocolate'... I've long been inspired by her incredible, soulful voice.... a favorite mix-tape staple of mine would be her cover of 'Light My Fire', and her song 'Now That I Have You' is one of the most gorgeous soul ballads of the 1980s. And who doesn't love 80s soul ballads? -ST

Joe Henry on Solomon Burke's Funeral

I have been a fan of Joe Henry for some years now- ever since I arrived in NYC as a fresh-faced 22-year old, cocktail waitressing in a little club in the village, where one night I was utterly transfixed by the performance of Mr. Henry onstage with his band; the sounds elegant, soulful, and wise. Joe Henry incidentally produced several albums I love by other artists, favorite of which is 'Don't Give Up On Me'- the swan song of the great King of Rock and Soul, Solomon Burke. I was amused and moved by Joe's experience of Solomon's funeral, a pretty great story. -ST
